New Scottish Farming Secretary Confirms- Farmers Could Be Charged Interest
A letter from Fergus Ewing confirms that farmers could be charged interest on Emergency Scottish Government Loans
This morning I received the following response from Fergus Ewing to a letter I sent to former Farming Minister, Richard Lochhead. In my original letter, here, I demanded the Scottish Government rule out charging farmers a five percent interest rate on Government loans after the Scottish Government botched basic payments. The news sparked an outcry in the farming community, already reeling from the Scottish Government's failed handling of payments under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Unfortunately Mr Ewing does not do that. Instead he confirms that farmers could have to pay interest on these emergency loans.
